Diced fish with coriander and lentil dal

Fish Cubes

2 stalks coriander
1 lime
1 garlic clove
2 cm ginger
0.5 chili peppers
1 tbsp brown sugar
3 tbsp fish sauce
2 tbsp sesame oil
200 g cod

Lentil Dal

2 carrots
2 stalks of celery
2 cm ginger
1 garlic clove
2 tbsp vegetable oil
100 g red lentils
0.5 tbsp cumin (cumin seeds)
0.5 tbsp ground coriander
0.5 tbsp garam masala
0.5 tbsp turmeric
0.5 tbsp paprika
200 ml vegetable stock
salt
cayenne pepper

Zubereitung

Fish Cubes

  1. Roughly chop the coriander with the stalks and place in a small bowl.
  2. Grate the green part of the lime and add to the coriander in the bowl.
  3. Squeeze the lime.
  4. Peel and finely dice the garlic and the ginger and add to the bowl.
  5. Halve the chilli pepper lengthways, deseed, finely chop and add to the bowl.
  6. Add the sugar, fish sauce and sesame oil to the bowl and mix all the ingredients together to make a marinade until the sugar has dissolved.
  7. Cut the pat-dried fish into walnut-sized cubes.
  8. Place the fish cubes in an oven dish, drizzle over the lime juice and pour the marinade over the fish.
  9. Set the oven to 100°C and cook the fish cubes in the oven for 6 minutes until translucent.

Lentil Dal

  1. Peel and finely dice the carrots, garlic and ginger.
  2. Cut off the top and bottom of the celery stalk and finely dice the celery stalk.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a small pan.
  4. Sweat the finely diced cubes with the lentils and the spices in the warm vegetable oil.
  5. Cover the lentils with the vegetable stock, cook for approx. 6 minutes until soft and then season to taste with salt and the spices.
  6. Serve the fish cubes with the lentil dal.

UNser TIPP

You can prepare the dal with different types of lentils, but they need to cook for different lengths of time until they are soft. The dal also tastes wonderful on its own.
