Green papaya salad

0.5 green papaya
1 carrot
2 tomatoes
1 garlic clove
0.5 chili peppers
0.5 limes
1 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp peanuts (unsalted)
salt
pepper

Zubereitung

  1. Peel the papaya, cut in half and remove all the seeds and strings.
  2. Peel the carrot.
  3. Grate the papaya flesh and carrot and place in a medium bowl.
  4. Quarter the tomatoes, remove the seeds, finely dice and add the diced tomatoes to the grated papaya and carrot in the bowl.
  5. Peel the garlic, dice very finely and add to the bowl.
  6. Deseed the chili pepper, dice very finely and add to the bowl.
  7. Grate the green part of the lime zest and add the zest to the bowl.
  8. Squeeze the lime.
  9. Add the lime juice, sugar and fish sauce to the papaya and carrot salad and mix well.
  10. Season the papaya and carrot salad with salt and pepper to taste.
  11. Leave the papaya and carrot salad to stand for approx. 20 minutes.
  12. Roughly chop the peanuts.
  13. Sprinkle the salad with the chopped peanuts.

Refined with coarsely crushed dried shrimps from the Asian store, the salad is even more typical.
